1989

Antonio Gutiérrez founds “Antonio Gutiérrez Codina S.L.” and takes his first steps in the food industry, selling surimi products, fresh anchovies, salmon and seafood to bars and restaurants in Barcelona.

These products are produced in Belgium and France and then distributed in Spain.

1997

Codina Aliments S.L. is founded, initially occupying an industrial building in Hospitalet del Llobregat. This marks the starting point of a company with ambitions to become the largest and most prominent company in the Spanish food import sector.

2000

Codina Aliments S.L. is granted exclusive distribution rights for some of the biggest Greek brands.

Thereafter, the company starts to import new products for the first time into Spain, including Greek yoghurts, feta cheese, Greek wines and Kalamata olives.

2006

The company moves to El Papiol to expand its premises, purchasing a larger industrial building.

2008

Codina Aliments S.L. starts to grow in the import and distribution market and incorporates several leading European brands.

The company now specialises in all three temperatures: frozen, refrigerated and dry.

2012

The company obtains exclusive distribution and representation rights for the English brand Maldon® Salt, marking the start of a long-lasting and successful relationship that stands out in the Spanish market.

2017

The company further expands its portfolio of exclusive brands by incorporating Boiron, a leading brand in the frozen fruit purée sector.

2020

Despite the pandemic, Codina Aliments S.L. expands its facilities by acquiring a new industrial building adjacent to its existing premises to continue operating at the highest level and delivering a superior level of service.

2022

Driven by a desire to keep growing and evolving, Codina Aliments revamps its corporate image and changes its name to Codina Foods.

Today, Codina Foods carries on a legacy that started in 1989, offering the best products and services in the import and distribution sector.
