PRAWN GYOZAS RECIPES

Prawn gyozas are an Asian delicacy that combines the softness of the filling with the crispy and tender touch of the dough.

At Codina Foods, we have Eurasie brand gyoza dough, ideal for an authentic and delicious result. If you prefer a versatile alternative, you can also use JR’s filo dough, which will give you a crispy and light touch. With our high quality doughs, making gyozas has never been so easy and tasty – try making them at home with our step-by-step recipe!

INGREDIENTS (serves 4)

For the filling:

  • 200 g peeled and chopped prawns.
50 g cabbage or Chinese cabbage, finely chopped.
    1 spring onion, chopped.
    1 grated garlic clove.
1 small piece of grated fresh ginger.
    1 tablespoon soy sauce.
    1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil.
1 pinch of salt and pepper to taste.

For the gyozas:

  • 20 gyoza wafers (you can use JR filo dough if you’re looking for a special touch).
    Vegetable oil for cooking.
    100 ml water

For the sauce:

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce.
    1 tbsp rice vinegar
    1 teaspoon sesame oil.

PREPARATION OF PRAWN GYOZAS

  • Prepare the filling. In a bowl, mix the chopped prawns, cabbage, spring onion, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt and pepper. Make sure everything is well integrated.
  • Fill the wafers. Place a small amount of the filling in the centre of each gyoza wafer. Moisten the edges with a little water, fold in half and pinch the edges to seal, forming small folds.
  • Cook the gyozas. Heat a little vegetable oil in a non-stick frying pan. Place the gyozas base-side down and cook over medium heat until golden brown on the bottom (about 2 minutes).
  • Add the water. Pour the 100 ml of water into the pan and cover immediately. Steam for 5 minutes or until the water evaporates. Remove the lid and allow the gyozas to brown a little more.
  • Prepare the sauce. Mix all the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl.
  • Presentation. Serve the prawn gyozas hot with the dipping sauce.
