TAHINI BISCUITS WITH A TOUCH OF MALDON SALT

Who said sweet treats don’t need salt? These tahini biscuits are proof that the contrast between sweet and savoury can be sublime. The smoothness of tahini combines with the crunchy texture of almonds and the unexpected touch of Maldon® salt flakes®, transforming every bite into a unique experience. Perfect to accompany a cup of tea, enjoy as a snack or surprise your guests with an authentic and delicious flavour.

INGREDIENTS (for 12 biscuits)

  • 200 g Achva natural tahini
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 200 g wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 50 g sliced almonds
  • Maldon salt flakes for sprinkling

PREPARATION OF TAHINI BISCUITS

The key is to work the dough well so that it is smooth and creamy, and to add the finishing touch of Maldon salt. Follow these steps:

  1. Preheat the oven. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with baking paper.
  2. Mix the wet ingredients. In a large bowl, combine the tahini, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until you have a smooth, even dough.
  3. Add the dry ingredients. Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt over the previous mixture. Mix well until you have a thick dough.
  4. Shape the biscuits. Using a spoon, shape the dough into walnut-sized balls and place them on the tray, leaving space between them. Flatten them slightly with the back of the spoon.
  5. Add the almonds. Place a few flaked almonds on each biscuit, pressing down lightly so that they stick.
  6. Bake. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Remove from the oven and leave to cool on a wire rack.
  7. Finishing touch. Before serving, sprinkle lightly with Maldon salt flakes for a sweet-salty contrast that enhances the flavours.
