HOW DO YOU MAKE A GREEK SALAD?

Greek salad is a classic dish of Mediterranean cuisine, known for its freshness and simplicity. Here’s how to make an authentic Greek salad that will transport you straight to the Aegean islands.

Ingredients for the greek salad

The following ingredients are needed to prepare it:

  • Tomatoes: 4 ripe tomatoes, cut into large chunks.
  • Cucumber: 1 cucumber, peeled and cut into thick slices.
  • Red onion: 1 red onion, thinly sliced.
  • Green pepper: 1 green pepper, cut into strips.
  • ILIADA Kalamata olives: A handful of Iliada brand Kalamata olives, whole or pitted.
  • METEORA feta cheese: 200 grams of Meteora brand feta cheese, cut into large cubes.
  • Extra virgin olive oil: 3-4 tablespoons.
  • Dried oregano: 1 teaspoon dried oregano.
  • MALDON® salt and pepper: To taste.
  • Red wine vinegar (optional): 1-2 tablespoons for an extra touch of acidity.

Steps to follow to prepare the salad

  1. Prepare the ingredients well. First wash the tomatoes, cucumber and pepper thoroughly. Then peel the red onion and cut it into thin slices. Also, cut the tomatoes into large chunks, the cucumber into thick slices and the pepper into strips.
  2. Assemble the salad. In a large bowl or salad bowl, combine the previously washed and chopped ingredients and combine with the Kalamata Iliada olives. Mix gently so that the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Add the Meteora feta cheese. Place the feta cheese cubes on top of the salad. This is usually left in large chunks rather than crumbled.
  4. Dress the salad. Drizzle the Greek salad with extra virgin olive oil and optionally add red wine vinegar. Sprinkle dried oregano over the salad and season with Maldon salt and pepper to taste.
